I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Registered Social Worker (RSW).
I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2016 with a focus on Incorporating Holistic Approaches to Treating Substance Misuse. I became a RCC shortly afterwards.
My areas of interest are in:
2) Depression & Anxiety
4) Grief & Loss
I use cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focussed therapy. I take a person centered approach as well as a strength based approach. I incorporate mindfulness practices and positive thinking into my practice.
I have experience working as an addictions counsellor facilitating group therapy as well as 1 on 1 counselling. I worked mainly with individuals struggling with things like substance misuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation and grief and loss. I take a holistic approach to working with individuals and focus on one’s bio psychosocial & spiritual aspects of self.
I have over 10 years’ experience working as a social worker with children, youth and families who often struggled with trauma, mental health and/or addiction.
I have taken the sacred journey training, from addiction to connection, at the Satir Institute in Surrey which focuses on the Personal Iceberg Metaphor of the Satir Model. I often use this model when working with individuals.
I studied Holistic Nutrition at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Vancouver and include this knowledge in my work when relevant and helpful to my clients. I also completed 3 months of rooted nutrition cooking classes and share this knowledge with individuals who are interested in learning healthier cooking options.
I am available most Saturdays and some Sundays. My cost is $100 per hour with a sliding scale option for those on low income.
